Fri, 16 Jan 2014 – To commemorate the Penang Turf Club’s 150th Anniversary celebrations, 75 employees were awarded for their loyalty and long-service to the Club with a monetary sum of RM246,000 paid out. Employees who were awarded fell into two categories, i.e. those from 10 – 20 years of service and those above 20 years of service. There were 27 employees from the 10 – 20 years of service category and 48 employees from the above 20 years of service category.

Veterinary Assistant Mr. Purushotham a/l Joseph Michael is the longest-serving employee with 43 years of service. Mr. Purushotham, 64, started work with the Club in 1970 and has served under six senior Veterinary Surgeons. Said Purushotham, “It is definitely a pleasant surprise to receive this award. I am certainly humbled that the Committee has recognized my efforts and contribution and that of my fellow colleagues, with this award. I will definitely continue to give my best to the Club.”

Mr. John Alexander Rodgers, Committee Member and Convenor of Human Resources, was on hand to present the awards to the 74 employees. “On behalf of the President and Committee, we felt that this award was most timely and well-deserving. It is certainly heart-warming to see that we have employees who have dedicated a huge part of the lives to the organization. It is therefore appropriate that they be rewarded for their hard-work and dedication. ”
